Sippin' By The River

On October 4th 2009 I went down to Philadelphia to go to the 15th Annual "Sippin' By The River", a wine & beer tasting festival held to support the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America. It was held at Festivat Pier @ Penn's Landing. I attended with my father, my friends James, Troy & Nando, as well as others. A warm sun was shining, and the cold beer was flowing. I finally learned the whole story about how Nando vanished from Boston during a visit. I was able to get my father to try some new brews, and extolled the virtues of some I'd had to the others, and also discovered some new tastes they liked. I daresay, a good time was had by all.

AnnMarie meets Curious George

 

 

Last Saturday I was riding with one of our supervisors, AnnMarie, when we drove past WGBH in Brighton, MA. She let loose a squeal as she saw a giant Curious George greeting visitors to an event they were having. This woman in a nurse in the Army, now. Since we were stopping less than a block away I suggested she go meet him. We did, and I took these two pictures. When she saw them, she said I'd made her week. She cares for her father, and her sister is in long term care. But for a few minutes, she forgot her troubles, and was able to enjoy herself.

Uncle Donald

My Uncle Donald, at a family event five - almost six - years ago. He looks quite dapper in this photo, and a bit warm too. Twas a beach event, though it was March. Close to my father's birthday too. My uncle slipped & fell on Christmas Day and needed several hours of surgery. I hope he recovers from this incident in time for Spring Training. He doesn't have anything to do with it, but it's a good date to shoot for.
